Operation Mind Control 2007
Bowart called me 1975 or 1976 and I spoke with him at some length, then forgot the matter and went on with other things in my life until, in 1978 I saw the book in a Nashville bookstore and promptly snatched it up - not because I was interviewed for it, but because it was a topic I was intensely interested in for my own research. In fact, it didn't even dawn on me that this was the book until I was skimming through it on the way back to the car and ran across my own name in the index. Today that $1.95 paperback sells for hundreds of dollars on eBay - IF you can even find a copy. In 1967 a writer (a major network anchor believed to be either Walter Cronkite or Chet Huntley) wrote a strange book called Were We Controlled? (New York University Books) under the pen-name of Lincoln Lawrence. That book, too, has become extremely rare.It was the first published reference to something called RHIC-EDOM (Radio Hypnotic Intra-Cerebral Control - Electronic Dissolution of Memory). |
It told the strange story of a major fraud in the futures market that was timed to make its perpetrators hundreds of millions of dollars because of its timing to their advance knowledge of the assassination of John Kennedy in 1963. It was very similar to the millions made in short-selling by knowledgeable insiders in the few days prior to the World Trade Center destruction of Sept. 11, 2001. More intriguing, it claimed that Oswald was a "Manchurian Candidate," a double-agent sent by the CIA to the Soviet Union as a "defector" and then turned into a mind-controlled Soviet agent through a surgical procedure. Lawrence claimed, though, that the "sleeper agent" Oswald was not created by the Soviet military but by an international cartel of commodities merchants who made millions when the U.S. stock market crashed upon Kennedy's murder. Like the fictional "Manchurian Candidate", Oswald "can be used years later with no realization that [he] is even being controlled! The EDOM process erases the memory or, in some cases, will delay the "sleeper's' perception of time so that events appear to have happened either long before or after they actually happened. I knew that the process was a bit complicated for the average person to understand, so I sought to simplify it after I ran across the same references to RHIC-EDOM in a 350-page CIA report I had been given a look at it (I was not allowed to make copies but did take notes). I myself have been programmed, with my consent, to protect the identity of my source and if subjected to hypnosis or currently available techniques, will claim that I made the whole thing up, despite verified CIA documents (below) that support the story. Even now, 30 years later, I have come under strong pressure to reveal the sources and have been called "a fraud" for not doing so. Tough!

| According to
official Soviet records, Lee Harvey Oswald was admitted to a
Minsk hospital at 10 am March 30, 1961 for complaints about
"suppuration from the right ear and a weakening in
hearing." He was hospitalized for 11 days for "an
adenoid operation." Eleven days? Even by American
standards this is an unusually long time, but for the spartan
Russians it was a ridiculously long time.
"What really happened, according to Lawrence, was that during the operation a small electrode was implanted inside Oswald's mastoid sinus. The electrode responded to a radio signal which would make audible, inside Oswald's head, certain electronic commands to which he had already been post-hypnotically conditioned to respond. (The autopsy report in Dallas noted that there was a small scar on the mastoid sinus behind Oswald's ear.) In 1967 the idea sounded utterly ridiculous. Mr. Lawrence's book, Were We Controlled?, found only a miniscule audience. Lawrence, on the other hand, may have had much more evidence than he was allowed to present. His credentials indicated that he had been 'working in liaison with the department of defense.' In 1975 the RHIC-EDOM story surfaced again. This time a Tennessee journalist said he had been given top-secret documents by two former CIA officials whom he would not identify. The journalist, James L. Moore, said that the papers in his possession described the details of 'a military technique in mind-control called Radio-Hypnotic Intra-Cerebral Control - Electronic Dissolution of Memory.' Moore described the RHIC-EDOM file as a 350-page scientific report, which was prepared by the CIA immediately after the murder of President John F. Kennedy. He said it described a way of turning men into electronically controlled robots programmed to kill on command. According to Moore, in initial (RHIC) stage of programming the prospective killer is put into a deep hypnotic trance, and conditioned to go into trance at the sound of a specific tone. 'A person may be placed under this control with or without his knowledge, programmed to perform certain actions and maintain certain attitudes' whenever he hears the tone. 'Effective for a lifetime,' Moore said, 'control may be triggered weeks, months or even years after the first 'hypnosis' and programming.' |
'Medically,' Moore
continued, 'these radio signals are directed to certain parts
of the brain. When a part of your brain receives a tiny
electrical impulse from outside sources, such as vision,
hearing, etc., an emotion is produced - anger at the sight of
a gang of boys beating an old woman, for example. This same
emotion of anger can be created by artificial radio signals
sent to your brain by a controller. You could instantly feel
the same white hot anger without any apparent reason.'
The second part of the process, electronic dissolution of memory (EDOM), Moore said, is more complex. 'In the brain is a chemical called acetylcholine, which carries electrical impulses from the eyes, ears, nose, nerve endings, etc. to the part of the brain where memory is located. Memory is nothing more than the recording of these electrical impulses, and acetylcholine is the path (or 'wire') that connects the inner brain to the nerves of your eyes and ears ..... By electronically jamming the brain, acetylcholine creates static which blocks out sights and sounds. You would then have no memory of what you saw or heard; your mind would be a blank.' Moore said that according to CIA documents, this method can be used to either block the memory completely, or to slow it down so that events seem to have happened later than they actually have. 'According to a knowledgeable CIA source, this is what happened in Dallas and later in Los Angeles [the Robert Kennedy assassination],' Moore stated. Moore quoted his unidentified source as saying, 'That was the first thought to hit us at CIA. It's pretty obvious that [Jack] Ruby was programmed to kill Oswald, even by Ruby's own words ... As for Sirhan, there is no other explanation; it's a proven fact that his memory has been completely erased.' 'The assassination of John Kennedy,' Moore said, 'was carried out by disgruntled CIA and FBI personnel, using Mafia and Cuban exile flunkies.' The claims of James L. | When the Warren
Commission, reportedly over the objections of some of its
members who felt the request was "ridiculous", asked
the CIA for all of its pertinent records on mind control that
might be related to the Kennedy killing, Richard Helms pulled
off a masterful sleight of hand for which he would later be
rewarded by being named CIA director.
He offered up some token evidence, focusing on chemical mind control methods, but with minimal reference to "biological radio communication." He didn't elaborate and the Warren Commission didn't ask. He said it was related to ESB (Electronic Brain Stimulation): "Current research indicates that the Soviets are attempting to develop a technology for control in the development of behavioral patterns among the citizenry of the USSR in accordance with politically determined requirements of the system (emphasis added). Furthermore, the same technology can be applied to more sophisticated approaches to the 'coding' of information for the transmittal to population targets in the 'battle for the minds of men.'" He described "a multidisciplinary approach integrating biological, social and physical-mathematical research in attempts better to understand, and eventually, to control human behavior in a manner consonant with national plans." For some reason, this alarming observation never made it into the pages of Operation Mind Control. Nor did Walter Bowart point out Helms assertion that: "In summary, therefore, there is no evidence that the Soviets have any techniques or agents capable of producing particular behavioral patterns which are not available to the West." |
